The ICA global conference for 2013 hosted at the European University of Cyprus aims to bring together the academia and industry in the crucial sector of cooperatives and social economy. We are now in a long period of crisis, financial crisis at the beginning, but economic and social crisis thereafter. This crisis has several aspects and consequences, such as failure of enterprises, unemployment, even risk of failure for countries.

We need to examine, therefore, the consequences for the cooperative and social economy entities; how they have behaved so far, which changes took place, and how they will emerge from the crisis. Discussion on crisis can refer to any period or particular situation. That may be on a national or international level, but it can be also on a local level or within a cooperative as entrepreneurial entity. Therefore the question of crisis is not applied to the actual crisis only; it is applied to any period and any circumstances. The conference will deal with all relevant issues including management of cooperatives, financial issues, social entrepreneurship, and the management of financial crisis. The conference will also examine government policy making and support to the cooperative movement. It is a unique opportunity to create an event where managers of cooperatives, academics, and government policy makers will exchange opinions on how the cooperatives have faced the crisis so far and how they will overcome it and continue to operate successfully after the crisis is over. The conference will provide a forum for presentation and discussion of scientific papers covering theory, methods, and applications in the fields of cooperative and social economy including a wide range of sectors and problem areas. Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee in accordance with standard practice. The conference official language will be English. Who Should Attend?
