From 10 to 12 March 2022, the Ripess EU Coordination Committee was held, for the first time, in Switzerland and more particularly among our Swiss members (APRÈS-GE and APRÈS-VD)where we had the chance to stay and work in L’ESPACE: APRÈS’s third place”.. During this CoCo, we had the opportunity to stay in self-managed apartments, visit the vegetable garden on the rooftop, and do some shopping at the Nid, a charming participatory grocery store (see photos).

Opened a few months ago, L’ESPACE is “A hybrid open to all, (…) it aims to create the common by offering a third place available to individuals to meet, gather and exchange. L’ESPACE, a third place by APRES, aims to provide access to local resources to promote innovation and transition, to serve as an agent for economic and social transformation, and to bring citizens to participate in a collective and collaborative approach.

This third place is intended to be mutual, focused on the sharing of experiences and constitutes a fertile ground for the economy of cooperation.”

A sustainable architectural concept

This third place was designed by APRÈS and La Codha thanks to Morsier’s Kunik architectural firm. It is based on bio-based materials (wood for the structure, raw earth for the walls, clay and natural paints as coatings, marmoleum for the floor), etc., or reused (windows, sinks, furniture, in collaboration with Materiuum) and will present a high-tech and immersive touch, in order to allow each organization to easily adapt L’ESPACE to its image or subject, thanks to projection equipment.
