The UNESCO CRESAÇOR Club wins the 1st edition of the Manuel António da Mota Foundation Award for UNESCO Clubs “Creating foundations in society, building bridges for peace”, with the 1st Human Rights Week – The power of the message.
The jury constituted by a representative of the Manuel António da Mota Foundation – Dr. Rui Pedroto, a representative of the Federation of UNESCO Associations, Centers and Clubs – Dr. Aires Carvalho and a representative of the UNESCO National Commission – Dr. Anna-Paula Ormeche, considered that both projects are important, as they allow greater knowledge and projection of the UNESCO Club Network, both internally and externally, sending a message of complementarities and unity and seeking to debate pressing issues such as human rights and the role of the media. The jury thus decided, unanimously, to award the ex-aequo Prize to the Digital Platform projects of the Portuguese Network of UNESCO Clubs, of the UNESCO Center of Amarante, and I Human Rights Week, of the UNESCO CRESAÇOR Club.
The Sertã Solidária, an initiative from CRESAÇOR to combat food waste and hunger in the urban center of the city of Ponta Delgada, in the Azores, wins the 1st Edition of the Portuguese Volunteer Trophy of the Azores.
The organic products produced by CRESAÇOR in Quinta do Norte are being marketed in three large commercial areas on the island of São Miguel. In addition, weekly we harvest and donate the freshness of our organic production to the Sertã Solidária Project, the Azores Regional Center of the Portuguese League Against Cancer and Casa do Gaiato de São Miguel.
The Quinta do Norte Project is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular with SDG 2 – Eradicate Hunger, Achieve Food Security, Improve Nutrition and Promote Sustainable Agriculture.
