Interview of Ruby van der Wekken, Oma Maa cooperative, Finland
Oma Maa is a food co-operative based on community-supported agriculture (CSA) as well as ecologically and socially sustainable food production methods. Together as a community we produce a large variety of produce at our community farm, the Lassila family farm in Tuusula, about 30 km from Helsinki. We are looking to grow into a community that can sustain 200 food members in total.

Video from Elisabetta Buccolo, author of "Antimafia : une histoire de solidarité" (Antimafia: a story of solidarity)
The capacity of organised civic actors (associations, cooperatives, collectives) to fight the mafia is regularly obscured by a vulgate that exalts the acts of the mafia. This sensational side has gradually overshadowed the scope of the civic movements which, throughout Sicilian history, have contributed to opposing it through their social, economic and political action. Reporting on this history, from the Unity of Italy to the present day, is a way of highlighting the civic engagement and discuss a postulate of inaction and the strength of connivance of the Sicilian people in relation to criminal networks.
Sicily is to be understood as an "area of the world", as the dynamics described in this book tell as much of its history as the dynamics than in other regions of the world where organised civil society helps to consume, produce, educate, raise awareness and mobilise against the forms of usurpation and violent subjugation produced by the criminal networks and the capitalist system that houses them.
