Ripess Europe celebrated its 10th anniversary, between the 7th and the 10th of September, on the Villarceaux Eco-site (Paris) with more than 40 participants representing many European countries and even Morocco, with the participation of REMESS, the Moroccan Solidarity Economy network. 

Celebrating our 10th anniversary means looking back (the construction of the network, the first meetings, its expansion throughout Europe) but it also means looking forward: the future that we wish to build, hand in hand, with the founding members of the network and the newest ones, the young generations and our partners and allies. The event was full of debates on various topics, from territorial cooperation and communities of practice, to ways of measuring the eco-social impact of SSE, to cooperative digital platforms of solidarity economic exchange, to different campaigns to co-construct European, national and local public policies - up to the active involvement of young people in contributing to another economy.

This celebration was an opportunity to strengthen the ties with all the members of the network (and we needed it badly after these long months of online-only meetings) and to welcome our three new members: VSOK in Austria, SolidNetwork in Ireland and Après-VD (Après-Vaud) in Switzerland. 

We inaugurated new partnership agreements with REMESS Morocco, with Dunia.earth for online platforms, drafted a Charter on the use of alternative digital tools for SSE and elected our new co-representative for RIPESS Intercontinental.

The three-day General Assembly was also attended by representatives from FPH (Fondation Charles Léopold Mayer),   Ripess Intercontinental, WFTO, Ecolise, Remix the Commons, ATTAC, Remess, Social Economy Europe, Transiscope, UNIPSO, Dunia, Sol Local Currency Movement; with whom partnerships and joint projects are being built. 

Thanks to you, to your presence (also for those who were with us online!), participation, smiles, ideas, dancing and enthusiasm, we could not have dreamed of a more beautiful event!

Communities for Future is a new integrated Europe-wide programme to inspire, empower and enable local community-led responses to the climate and ecological emergency. The initiative was launched in 2020 together with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), RIPESS EU and RURENER, and in the presence and endorsement of EU Commissioners, MEPs and ECOLISE members.

This event will be held in the context of the European Day of Sustainable Communities 2021 (EDSC21), an annual celebration of pioneering local communities across Europe who are taking action for a better, more sustainable world. Since its launch, Communities for Future has worked on the development of policy pathways and recommendations that reflect the reality and current solutions put to the front by community-led initiatives, citizens and organisation.

The week concludes on 28th September with a hybrid event in Brussels to present the outcomes of the Regional policy events!

The COOPTERR mobility meeting will take place during Popmind, bringing together the partners and members of the territorial cooperation Erasmus+ project.
