At a time when millions of Europeans struggle to afford healthy meals and food producers face unstable and unfair market conditions, the initiative aims to transform how food systems are governed placing human dignity, solidarity, and sustainability at the core.

At the heart of the campaign is a European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI), which seeks to gather one million verified signatures from citizens across EU member states. This democratic mechanism would oblige EU institutions to act and establish concrete policies ensuring that everyone, regardless of income or status, can access good food. The movement already brings together over a hundred organizations from across Europe, including networks of farmers, social movements, researchers, and local authorities, all working collectively to build political will for this vital cause.

The initiative rests on several core principles. It argues that a healthy diet depends on fair livelihoods for those who produce food; that nutrition must be accessible, affordable, and culturally appropriate; and that food systems must be resilient to crises such as climate change, conflicts, and economic shocks. Above all, it challenges the notion of food as a mere commodity, affirming instead that food is a common good that should be governed by rights and responsibilities shared by all.

Set to be fully launched in late 2025, Good Food for All aspires to mobilize citizens and institutions across Europe to rethink food policy from the ground up—moving from a profit-driven model to one rooted in justice, ecological balance, and human rights.

HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED
This is a citizens’ movement.
