SUMMARY:RIPESS Europe GA 2023
DESCRIPTION:The 12th Congress and General Assembly (GA) of RIPESS Europe – Solidarity Economy Europe will be held from the 19th to 21th September 2023 at La Bergerie de Villarceaux (Paris\, France)\, with the support of the FPH (Foundation for human progress). This GA is the opportunity to meet again and celebrate the 12th Anniversary of the network in a convivial atmosphere and to continue planning together following the Strategic orientations approved in September 2022. \nAs climate and ecological issues are becoming more and more central to our choice of destination\, we thought of holding the GA every two years in Villarceaux : because of its location – easy to reach from most European countries – relatively central as well as the possibility of arriving in PARIS by train / bus / plane (if necessary) from most European cities. \nThe meeting focuses on the development of the European network 12 years from its foundation. New members are expected from different European countries and guests from other networks and organisations.  Since it is a residential meeting\, participants are expected to stay the whole time.  Places are limited.

SUMMARY:International Day of Action Against the WTO and Free Trade Agreements
DESCRIPTION:The Agreement on Agriculture (AoA)\, which forms the core of the WTO’s food and agriculture trade policies\, continues to wreak havoc on people’s lives. Over the past 30 years\, La Via Campesina has consistently highlighted the negative and devastating effects of WTO policies on both people and the planet. Whenever the WTO convened its ministerial meetings to advance these harmful policies\, La Via Campesina’s organized peasant groups took to the streets to expose its falsehoods and deceit. As the World Trade Organization subsequently entered a state of limbo\, numerous regional and bilateral free trade agreements began to proliferate\, with many of them resembling the highly detrimental Agreement on Agriculture. Thus\, whether with or without the WTO\, global trade remains entangled in these opaque agreements\, frequently negotiated behind closed doors without public consultation or debates. \nDuring the last Ministerial meeting in Geneva in 2022\, La Via Campesina declared that the time had come to dismantle the WTO\, discard the Agreement on Agriculture\, put an end to harmful free trade agreements and establish a new trade framework for global agricultural trade based on principles of food sovereignty\, solidarity\, and internationalism. A new framework that respects and upholds the UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas (UNDROP)! \nIt called on World Trade Organization member states\, particularly those from the Global South\, to lead the charge in creating this framework and establishing it as the bedrock of global trade. The global food crisis\, resulting in increasing global hunger\, exacerbated by speculative commodity trading practices\, pandemics\, conflicts and wars\, is glaring evidence of a flawed global food system that primarily benefits transnational agribusiness. Numerous reports have highlighted how\, even in the face of growing global hunger\, a handful of large agribusiness corporations continued to accumulate profits through speculative practices. The Agreement on Agriculture serves as a pact to secure perpetual profits for agribusinesses\, disregarding the suffering of peasants\, individuals\, and the environment. \nFor this reason\, as we commemorate the International Day of Action against the WTO and Free Trade Agreements on September 10th\, La Via Campesina will intensify this struggle for an alternative. We will lead the effort to construct this new framework through direct involvement of peasants and numerous other small-scale food producers. We will collaborate with our governments and civil society partners to generate political pressure in support of this new paradigm.

SUMMARY:Sustainable mobility against pollution\, energy and time wastage
DESCRIPTION:Less polluted cities on a human scale\, flexible services for getting around\, innovative\, territorially integrated and efficient transport: this is sustainable and intelligent mobility\, that which increases the quality of life. \nUnfortunately\, the organisation of the ever-growing transport system and land planning often do not go hand in hand\, even in Trentino.\nDeveloping sustainable mobility projects therefore means working simultaneously on the environmental impact and on people’s quality of life. \nIs Trentino sustainable in terms of mobility? How can an area like ours be connected? How can the concept of the 15-minute city be adapted to our province? Which direction should the future of sustainable mobility take? \nWe talk about this on Thursday 22 June at 4.30 p.m. in this online talk with: \nGiuseppe Grezzi | Valencia’s mobility councillor\nJacopo Nespolo | Physicist and cycle activist\nElisa Nicoli | Eco-narrator\nModerator: Andreas Fernandez\, communication sociologist and ecologist

SUMMARY:Feminist economy congress
DESCRIPTION:Countdown to the Congress of Feminist Economics to be held for the first time in the city of Barcelona from 16 to 18 March 2023\, facilitated by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya\, in collaboration with the UOC Barcelona Open Chair in Digital Economy promoted by the Barcelona City Council\, with the aim of continuing to strengthen the link between the academic and socio-economic world of the city. \nFeminist economics has made significant contributions to date. The analysis of the feminist theory of the economic model\, and globalization; the questioning of “homo economicus”; the conception of the economic\, and the alienation of the economic system\, with putting the sustainability of life\, and the provision of needs\, at the center of the economic system; the balance between the productive and reproductive systems; the system and distribution of care; environmental sustainability; The economic democratization of business organization and gender mainstreaming in public institutions and economic policies\, among others\, are just one example. \nWithout losing sight of previous experiences and contributions\, the VIII Congress of Feminist Economics will pay special attention to the readings of the Economy from the feminist theory of technology\, the digital economy and the digitalization of life. \nSobre el congreso

SUMMARY:Advocacy Campaigning Training
DESCRIPTION:Communities for Future is committed to “System Change\, not Climate Change”\, but how are we making this change? \nA 2-day in-person training to connect and build our skills in advocating for community-led local development\, taking place in Belgium\, 14-15 March 2023 \nIn these times\, the capacities\, adaptation and resilience of regenerative communities are essential. Yet they need to become coherent and connected\, so local actions can emerge as a powerful social system (an eco-system network) with positive influence at a wider societal and political scale. Communities for Future invites those hungry for change to come together\, nourish our networks\, learn\, share experiences\, build capacity and co-create an advocacy campaign. If you don’t know what kind of advocacy campaigning is being done in your country for community-led initiatives or you think the current efforts are not enough\, do join forces with us! \nThis training will equip you with: \n– Understanding and integrating advocacy basics\n– Campaigning skills and resources\n– Embed you in a network of peers \nOn this training ECOLISE is collaborating with the Good Lobby to synergise with the ongoing policy consultation process. The focus is to embody the 10 Theses towards transformative community-led local development and make use of them for advocacy campaigning on European\, national and local levels. \nThe event and travels are fully funded for 20 participants and food costs are covered for 10 additional participants (ideally people from nearby).
